Description:
The Chesapeake Bay Studies submerged aquatic vegetation Program?s main purpose is to enhance and increase this important fisheries habitat in Chesapeake Bay and its tidal tributaries. Funding will be directed to complement existing and future efforts in this area by Federal, State, and local agencies, and community watershed organizations. NOAA is serving as a cooperating agency on the non-native oyster EIS. In this capacity, NOAA?s role is to serve as the science agency ensuring adequate scientific input is obtained to inform the EIS assessment and final decision. The Chesapeake Bay Studies non-native oyster research program will specifically address the research needs identified in ?Identifying and Prioritizing Research Required to Evaluate Ecological Risks and Benefits of Introducing Diploid Crassostrea ariakensis to Restore Oysters in Chesapeake Bay.?
